Katie Da Gama
Katie is an executive coach and professional development consultant based in Dublin, Ireland. With over 20 years of experience as a legal professional – including as Managing Partner of an international law firm – Katie now works with lawyers and law firms to support them in building high performance teams, navigating leadership transitions, and creating work environments in which everyone thrives.
Whether you’re a newly promoted partner finding your feet in a leadership role, an experienced lawyer contemplating a career pivot, or a senior legal leader wrestling with the “always more” culture of law firms, Katie brings both insider understanding and professional coaching expertise to partner with you as you clarify what success looks like on your terms.
Katie qualified as a barrister in London and worked in both private practice and in-house roles before relocating to Dublin in 2004. As a Partner at Matheson, one of Ireland’s top law firms, she developed a reputation for clear thinking and commercially focused advice. She was head-hunted to establish and lead the Irish office of DAC Beachcroft, a leading UK law firm. Working alongside a talented team, she grew the office from a single employee to over 50 people within seven years and served on both the Group and Executive Boards of the global business.
In 2018, driven by a growing conviction that her greatest impact lay in working with people in law rather than in the law itself, Katie established her coaching and consultancy business. This wasn’t simply stepping away from practice – it was a purposeful move towards work she felt genuinely energised by. Katie is passionate about professional and personal development in the legal profession and works with law firms and individual lawyers, combining her analytical legal training with a creative and empathetic leadership development approach. Katie’s work encompasses 1:1 executive coaching, team facilitation, and the design and delivery of tailored professional development programmes such as those focused on sustainable high performance, psychological safety, communicating with impact, managing stakeholders and wellbeing for lawyers.
Katie holds an MSc in Business & Executive Coaching from Smurfit Business School and is accredited by the European Mentoring & Coaching Council (EMCC). She is a certified ‘Time to Think’ Coach, an accredited LEGO® Serious Play® facilitator, and a facilitator in The Fearless Organisation methodology. Katie publishes a monthly newsletter, “Lawyers As Leaders” and is currently working on her first book aimed at supporting senior lawyers in their leadership roles.
Katie lives in Dublin with her husband, two daughters and a noisy miniature Schnauzer!
